Isireli Digitaki, a year nine student from Nabua Secondary School, expressed gratitude for his participation in the recent Fiji Golf Open. He competed in the junior category at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.

“This was my first time at the Fiji Golf Open, and I am pleased with my scores,” Digitaki remarked. He acknowledged that the pressure of the tournament led to some difficult swings that affected his game.

Digitaki was excited to play alongside his two uncles and older siblings during the event. The family won several prizes, including electrical appliances. “We can’t afford these items, so winning them for free makes us very proud,” he shared.

Despite enjoying the experience, Digitaki found it challenging to manage the weight of his golf bag, which contributed to his fatigue. He noted the need to improve his ability to handle pressure for future competitions.

“I am thankful to God for giving me the strength to complete this three-day tournament,” he said. He also expressed appreciation to Complete Insurance Services for covering his golf membership fees, stating, “Without their support, I wouldn’t have been able to compete.”

Digitaki extended thanks to Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci for assisting junior players in the tournament. Additionally, he acknowledged the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for sponsoring ten juniors with free entry fees, emphasizing that many juniors would struggle to afford the costs.

Finally, he expressed gratitude to his family and teachers for their encouragement and guidance throughout the tournament.
