Young Golfer’s Dream Comes True at Fiji Open

Isireli Digitaki, a year nine student at Nabua Secondary School, expressed his gratitude for the valuable experience he gained at the Fiji Golf Open. He competed in the junior category at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.

“This was my first time participating in the Fiji Golf Open, and I’m pleased with my scores,” Digitaki shared. However, he acknowledged that the pressure of the competition affected his performance, leading to several mishits.

Digitaki was excited to share the experience with his two uncles and older siblings, all of whom took home prizes, including electrical appliances. “We can’t afford some of these items, so winning them makes us very proud,” he said.

He admitted that carrying his golf bag was challenging and contributed to his fatigue during the tournament. “I need to work on managing pressure in order to improve my performance in the next tournament,” he noted.

Digitaki expressed his gratitude to God for the strength to endure the three-day competition. He also thanked Complete Insurance Services for its support in covering his golf membership fees.

“Without their sponsorship, I wouldn’t have been able to participate,” he stated, also recognizing Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci for their assistance to junior players in the tournament.

Moreover, Digitaki appreciated the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for subsidizing entry fees for ten junior participants. “Many of us juniors wouldn’t be able to afford the entry fee otherwise,” he remarked.

In closing, he extended his thanks to his family and teachers for their encouragement and guidance throughout the tournament.
