Isireli Digitaki, a year nine student at Nabua Secondary School, expressed his gratitude for the experience he gained at the Fiji Golf Open. He participated in the junior tournament held at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.

“This is my first time in the Fiji Golf Open, and I’m pleased with my scores,” Digitaki stated. He mentioned that he experienced some pressure during the event, leading to a few poor swings that affected his performance.

Digitaki enjoyed playing alongside his uncles and older siblings at the tournament, where they earned prizes that included electrical appliances. “We can’t afford some of these items, so winning them feels very rewarding,” he shared.

He faced challenges with lifting his golf bag during the tournament, which contributed to his fatigue. “I need to learn to manage the pressure better to enhance my performance in the upcoming tournaments,” he noted.

He expressed his thanks to God for giving him the strength to participate in the three-day event and acknowledged Complete Insurance Services for covering his golf membership fees. “Without their support, I wouldn’t have been able to compete,” he stated.

Digitaki also extended his appreciation to Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci for their assistance to junior players like himself and thanked the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for sponsoring ten juniors with free entry to the tournament. “Many of us juniors cannot afford the entry fees,” he explained.

Lastly, he thanked his family and teachers for their encouragement and guidance throughout the tournament.
