Jiya Jaanvi Prasad, a 20-year-old sponsored by Rainbow Cool Tech, is making her debut in the pageant world at the Vodafone Fiji Coral Coast Carnival in Sigatoka. She is one of seven contestants united in their mission to combat drug addiction.
Prasad emphasized the importance of raising awareness and providing compassion to help individuals struggling with addiction. “At the Coral Coast Carnival, we unite to fight drug addiction,” she stated. “While it’s a barrier that affects many, we stand for hope, recovery, and support. This is my first experience participating in a pageant, and I believe together we can help break the chains of addiction, creating a brighter and healthier future for all.”
She expressed gratitude to her parents, Abhinesh and Ranjileen Prasad, who both work in the tourism sector, for their ongoing support. Originally from Maro, Nadroga, Jiya attended Tuva Primary School and Nadroga Arya College. Currently, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of the South Pacific, with aspirations of becoming a lawyer.
Committee secretary Ramesh Naidu announced that the carnival will continue after a four-year hiatus, with the crowning event scheduled for Saturday.
