Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad held a meeting today with Manuella Ferro, the World Bank Vice President for the East Asia and Pacific region, during the 2024 IMF/World Bank Group Annual Meetings.

The discussions centered on the key government priorities outlined in the National Development Plan, which include enhancing health service delivery, promoting quality education, developing climate-resilient infrastructure, and raising the overall standard of living.

Vice President Ferro pledged the World Bank’s collaboration with the Australian government and the Asian Development Bank to advance the redevelopment of the CWM Hospital.

There will also be an emphasis on tackling the current public health emergency through increased investments in primary health care facilities nationwide and raising awareness and response efforts.

VP Ferro praised Fiji for its progressive approach and confirmed the World Bank’s ongoing support through technical assistance, financing, and capacity-building initiatives to address these objectives. She reassured Professor Prasad of the Bank’s commitment to the National Development Plan and sustained partnership in advancing Fiji’s development.
