Boxer Maureen Neumia is encouraging women across the nation to embrace the sport of boxing. Neumia, who began her boxing journey in 2019 with the support of her husband Fred Chand, a promoter with South Pacific Boxing Promotion, believes that women excel in various sports and should consider boxing as well.
The 37-year-old competitor has been diligently preparing for her upcoming bout against Amo Wati at Prince Charles Park in Nadi this Saturday. She expressed confidence in her training, stating, “I’ve been working really hard and hopefully all goes according to plan in the ring. I’ve been training with my son so there’s no challenge at all.”
Neumia is also calling on boxing enthusiasts to attend Saturday’s event, which will feature three IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Asia Pacific titles on the line.
