Boxer Maureen Neumia is urging women across the country to engage in boxing. She shared that she began her boxing journey in 2019, with encouragement from her husband, Fred Chand, who is a promoter for South Pacific Boxing Promotion. Neumia expressed her belief in the potential of women in sports, stating, “I’m encouraging women to take up this sport as they are doing well in other sports.”
At 37, Neumia is gearing up for her fight against Amo Wati this Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. She revealed that she has been training diligently and is hopeful for a successful performance. “I’ve been working really hard and hopefully all goes according to plan in the ring. I’ve been training with my son so there’s no challenge at all,” she commented.
Neumia also called on boxing enthusiasts to attend the event, where three IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Asia Pacific titles will be contested.
