A Chinese national will spend at least another two-and-a-half years in prison for performing an illegal and fatal breast augmentation surgery. Jie Shao was convicted of manslaughter earlier this year by a Sydney jury, which found she had unlawfully injected a woman with a lethal dosage of anaesthetic.
The victim, 35-year-old Jean Huang, died in September 2017 after a procedure that involved hyaluronic acid being injected into her breasts as filler. Shao, who conducted the illegal surgery in Sydney, was found guilty of manslaughter related to injecting the lethal dose of anaesthetic.
Shao’s sentencing follows her conviction for the fatal procedure that led to Huang’s death. This case underscores the grave consequences of unqualified and unauthorized medical practices.
