Sitiveni Rabuka, leader of the People’s Alliance Party and the current Prime Minister, is remaining silent about his intentions for the 2026 elections amid increasing speculation. While he has not officially declared his candidacy, Rabuka did not dismiss the idea when asked if he would seek re-election in two years.

Concerns have been raised regarding the party’s alignment with its original manifesto, with critics suggesting it has been compromised under the Coalition Government. Rabuka acknowledged these concerns, stating that he is still weighing his options.

“It will depend on my availability,” he noted. “I will have to join the queue and be subjected to the selection panel at the time. I still have to be one of the applicants.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his election plans, Rabuka is aware that many of his supporters are eager for him to guide the party into the next election. He addressed the issues raised by supporters in various media, acknowledging that some goals have not been met, which he attributes partly to their alliance.

“We haven’t been able to achieve everything we set out to, partly because of our alliance. But we had a very productive meeting,” he stated.

Rabuka also emphasized that the party’s manifesto could change over time, encouraging supporters to share their ideas during party meetings. “As our party’s name reflects, it is the People’s Alliance. The people come together, and we are aligned,” he remarked.

He concluded by reiterating the essence of their coalition, describing it as a collective of individuals aiming for a common goal: to lead the country in accordance with the people’s will, motivated by a vision for national improvement.
