Whistleblower Protections Missing: A Call for Transparency in Fiji’s Audit Bill

Opposition Member of Parliament Premila Kumar has expressed her disappointment with the Coalition Government’s decision to exclude critical Whistleblower Protection measures from the recently enacted Audit Bill. She contended that these protections are essential for safeguarding public funds and ensuring accountability by providing a secure way for individuals to report corruption and mismanagement without fear of retaliation.

Kumar highlighted that implementing such safeguards is vital in empowering whistleblowers to reveal misconduct, thereby bolstering efforts against corruption.
