The Western Division Two team triumphed in a challenging match against the Police Mobile Force, securing a 1-0 victory to claim the 2024 Fiji Police Inter-Formation Soccer Competition Trophy. The final match took place yesterday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Throughout the game, neither team was able to score, leading to a tense rivalry. As the match progressed into extra time, both sides increased their intensity, anticipating a potential sudden death finish.

The decisive moment came when Sairusi Nalaubu scored the only goal by executing a powerful shot into the net while defenders were momentarily distracted. This goal not only ensured victory for the Western Division but also earned Nalaubu the Golden Boot for netting the most goals in the tournament.

After the match, team president ASP Riyaz Mohammed expressed his satisfaction, dedicating the win to the police officers working hard back home in the West. He emphasized their commitment, stating, “This is for those hard working police officers back home who have been sacrificing while we are here playing, and our mission was to get this trophy into the Western Division.”

The Western Division team was awarded the 2024 Inter Formation Trophy along with a $1000 shopping voucher, courtesy of their sponsor, Extra Supermarket.

With the tournament concluded, the police team is now turning its focus to the upcoming 2024 Sukuna Bowl next month, where they will prepare for their annual competitions against the Army in rugby, soccer, netball, volleyball, and boxing.

Meanwhile, the Police Mobile Force received a $500 shopping voucher from Extra Supermarket.
