Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to meet the requirements of their responsibilities or consider resigning.
The warning came from the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during his address at the end of the fourth quarter divisional parade, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
SSP Vaisewa stressed the importance of treating every report with equal seriousness and providing appropriate advice to those who seek assistance. He emphasized that the public holds high expectations for police responsiveness and insisted that officers either rise to meet these expectations or step down if they are unable to fulfill their duties.
He reminded his team of the necessity to handle complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “Every report deserves attention, and proper guidance should be given to ensure that complainants feel satisfied with the outcome,” SSP Vaisewa stated.
Furthermore, he echoed the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew’s policy of zero tolerance towards officers engaging in criminal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer who exploits their position for personal gain through illegal activities will face appropriate consequences.
