The connection of Viria Water Supply to the Waila Water Treatment Plant has been successfully completed.

Ro Filipe Tuisawau, the Minister for Public Works and Transport, visited the site to commend the teams involved in the project. He emphasized that these upgrades are crucial, requiring approximately 20 hours of work to enhance resilience, redundancy, and reliability in the Suva-Nausori Water Distribution Network.

According to Seru Soderberg, Chief Operating Officer of the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), as of October 5, their teams have been engaged in flushing and bleeding procedures and have filled the pipeline from the Waila Water Treatment Plant to the Wainibuku Reservoir. Soderberg noted that normal water flow to the Wainibuku Reservoir was expected to resume around 3 PM that day, as they concentrate on refilling the reservoirs to operational levels.

Restoration efforts are ongoing, with aims to achieve a 90% supply restoration to the affected areas. Water carting trucks are ready to assist if necessary.
