Water Works Success: What’s Next for Suva-Nausori Supply?

The construction work for connecting the Viria Water Supply to the Waila Water Treatment Plant has been successfully completed.

Ro Filipe Tuisawau, the Minister for Public Works and Transport, visited the site to acknowledge the efforts of the teams involved in the project.

Tuisawau highlighted the significance of these works, which included approximately 20 hours of labor aimed at enhancing the resilience, redundancy, and reliability of the Suva-Nausori Water Distribution Network.

Additionally, Seru Soderberg, Chief Operating Officer of WAF, reported that as of October 5, the WAF teams were engaged in flushing and bleeding procedures while charging the pipeline that runs from the Waila Water Treatment Plant to the Wainibuku Reservoir.

Soderberg mentioned that the water flow was expected to stabilize at the Wainibuku Reservoir around 3 PM the previous day, as efforts shifted towards refilling reservoirs to their operational capacity.

He also indicated that restoration works have begun, aiming to achieve a 90% restoration of water supply to the affected areas. Water carting trucks are on standby to provide assistance as needed.
