The construction work for the connection of Viria Water Supply to the Waila Water Treatment Plant system has been successfully completed.
Public Works and Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau visited the work site, recognizing the efforts of the teams involved. Tuisawau emphasized that the project was vital, requiring approximately 20 hours of work to enhance resilience, redundancy, and reliability in the Suva-Nausori Water Distribution Network.
According to WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg, teams have been engaged in flushing and bleeding operations, and the pipeline from the Waila Water Treatment Plant to the Wainibuku Reservoir has been charged as of October 5. Soderberg mentioned that the water flow to the Wainibuku Reservoir was expected to return to normal by around 3 PM on the same day, with efforts now geared toward refilling reservoirs to their operational levels.
Restoration work is underway with the goal of achieving a 90% restoration rate in affected areas. Water carting trucks are ready to provide assistance as necessary.
