The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has emphasized that water scarcity is a significant issue in the country, which the Coalition Government is dedicated to resolving. During his address in Parliament, Tuisawau highlighted that the challenges posed by climate change and extended dry periods are critical concerns, not just regarding water infrastructure.

To tackle these challenges, Tuisawau noted that the government has implemented several measures. Water rationing and scheduling programs have been introduced to help communities manage water shortages effectively.

He mentioned the availability of a free water tank scheme, which has been distributed to various rural and affected regions, and indicated that this initiative remains open for participation. This scheme is designed to help residents store water during shortages. Additionally, the government is constructing temporary cofferdams as a short-term solution, which is part of ongoing efforts and long-term strategies to address the water crisis.
