The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has highlighted that water management is a critical concern in the country, and the Coalition Government is dedicated to effectively tackling this issue.
During a recent parliamentary session, Tuisawau emphasized that the challenges are not only related to infrastructure but are also influenced by climate change and prolonged dry conditions.
To combat these challenges, the government has implemented various measures, including structured water rationing and scheduling programs designed to help communities cope with water shortages.
Tuisawau mentioned that the government has launched a free water tank scheme that has been established in several rural and affected areas, which is still accepting applicants. This initiative allows residents to store water during shortages. Additionally, temporary cofferdams are being constructed as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address water-related issues, complemented by long-term strategies.
