The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, emphasized the significance of water issues in the country, stating that the Coalition Government is dedicated to comprehensive solutions. During a discussion in Parliament, Tuisawau highlighted the challenges posed by climate change and recurring dry spells, in addition to the need for improved infrastructure.
He mentioned that the Government has implemented several measures to mitigate these challenges, including water rationing and scheduling programs designed to help communities better manage water shortages. Tuisawau also noted the introduction of free water tank schemes, which have been distributed to various rural and affected areas, and the scheme remains available for residents.
These initiatives aim to assist individuals in storing water as shortages occur. Additionally, the construction of temporary cofferdams is being carried out as part of ongoing work and longer-term strategies to address the water crisis.
