The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has emphasized that water is a critical issue in the country, which the Coalition Government is fully committed to addressing.

During a recent parliamentary session, Tuisawau highlighted the government’s focus not only on improving infrastructure but also on tackling challenges posed by climate change and periods of drought.

He mentioned that the government has implemented various measures to mitigate these issues, including the introduction of water rationing and scheduling programs designed to help communities cope with water shortages.

Tuisawau pointed out that the government has introduced free water tank schemes that have been distributed to different rural and affected areas, and this initiative remains available for residents.

This scheme allows residents to store water in times of shortage, while another temporary solution involves the ongoing construction of temporary cofferdams. Tuisawau affirmed that these efforts are part of a long-term strategy to address the water crisis.
