Water Woes: Government Unveils Bold Solutions Amidst Crisis

The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has highlighted water scarcity as a critical issue in the country, reaffirming the Coalition Government’s commitment to addressing it comprehensively.

While addressing Parliament, Tuisawau emphasized that the challenges are not only related to infrastructure but also stem from climate change and periods of significant drought.

He outlined several measures the Government has instituted to mitigate these challenges. Among these is the introduction of water rationing and scheduling programs designed to aid communities in coping with water shortages.

Additionally, Tuisawau mentioned the implementation of a free water tank scheme, which has been made available in various rural and affected areas, and is still open for residents. This initiative allows communities to store water during shortages.

He also noted that the construction of temporary cofferdams is another ongoing measure aimed at addressing the water crisis both in the short and long term.
