Two tourism properties have ceased operations due to new challenges with their freshwater supply. The Beachcomber Island Resort and Anchorage Beach Resort both closed earlier this month following a breakdown at the water plant, according to resort manager Atish Dip.
He confirmed that all deposits from guests with reservations at the two resorts will be fully refunded. Mr. Dip mentioned that parts are currently being imported for repairs. However, some insiders claim that the resorts actually closed on October 11.
Marina Toledo, who had booked a stay at one of the resorts, sought clarification after receiving a notification about the closure. Instead of information on alternative accommodations with similar pricing, she received a timeline for the closure and details about the refund process.
Beachcomber Island Resort, known for its legendary Tui Tai, has seen better days, especially since its time under the Costello ownership. Located near Lautoka, it was once a popular destination for party enthusiasts. The original name Tai was altered to Beachcomber Island in the 1960s to enhance its appeal to tourists.
