Two tourism properties have shut down due to renewed challenges with fresh water supply. Beachcomber Island Resort and Anchorage Beach Resort ceased operations earlier this month following the breakdown of a water plant, according to resort manager Atish Dip. He confirmed that all deposits for guests who had booked stays at the two resorts will be fully refunded. Mr. Dip mentioned that parts are being imported to address the issue. However, some insiders contend that the actual closure date was October 11.

Marina Toledo, who had a reservation at one of the resorts, received a notification about the closure. She sought information on alternative island accommodations with similar pricing but was instead provided with details regarding the closure timeline and refund procedures.

Once a vibrant destination for partygoers, Beachcomber Island Resort, known for the legendary Tui Tai, has not maintained its former glory since the Costello family era. Situated off the coast of Lautoka, the island was rebranded from its original name, Tai, to Beachcomber Island in the 1960s to enhance its appeal to tourists.
