Water Supply Woes: Fiji’s Tamavua Treatment Plant Faces Turbidity Challenge

Spread the love

The Water Authority of Fiji is addressing a disruption in water supply that some customers have experienced from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant over the weekend. Since Friday, elevated turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, caused by recent rainfall in the catchment area, have impacted the plant’s operations.

The increased turbidity has led to a significant buildup of sludge, resulting in a malfunction of the gearbox in one of the two clarifiers at the facility. This breakdown has hindered the restoration of water production to normal levels, affecting supply to those in need.

The technical team of the Water Authority is working tirelessly to resolve these issues and restore water supply as soon as possible. WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg expressed gratitude to the community for their continued understanding and patience during this situation.
