The Water Authority of Fiji is addressing a supply disruption impacting customers who receive water from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant this weekend. On Friday, the plant encountered elevated turbidity levels in the Waimanu River due to recent rainfall in the area. The high turbidity has resulted in increased sludge accumulation at the plant, which subsequently affected the gearbox of one of the two clarifiers.
This breakdown has hindered the restoration of water production to normal levels, thereby affecting the water supply to the impacted customers. “Our technical team is working tirelessly to resolve this issue and restore supply as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, especially for those who have been without water since yesterday,” said a spokesperson from WAF.
The Chief Operating Officer of WAF, Seru Soderberg, expressed gratitude to the community for their ongoing understanding and patience as the team works to resolve the issue.
