The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is addressing a supply disruption affecting some customers served by the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant this weekend. On Friday, the plant encountered high turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, caused by recent rainfall in the area.
WAF reported that these elevated turbidity levels led to a significant accumulation of sludge, which has impacted the gearbox of one of the plant’s two clarifiers. As a result, the breakdown has hindered efforts to return water production to normal levels and to restore supply to those impacted.
“Our technical team is working tirelessly to resolve this issue and restore supply as promptly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, particularly for those without water since yesterday,” a WAF representative stated.
WAF Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg, expressed gratitude to the community for their understanding and patience as the team works diligently to resolve the situation.
