Water Supply Disruption: How Rainfall is Impacting Fiji’s Services

The Water Authority of Fiji is addressing a disruption in water supply that has affected customers relying on the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant over the weekend. The issues began on Friday when elevated turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, caused by recent rainfall, triggered increased sludge accumulation within the plant. This condition led to a malfunction in the gearbox of one of the plant’s two clarifiers, hindering the restoration of normal water production and supply to those impacted. The technical team at WAF is working tirelessly to resolve the situation and restore service as swiftly as possible. WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg expressed gratitude to the community for their continued understanding and patience during this challenging time.
