The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection works will lead to water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor starting at midnight tonight and continuing through Sunday.

In a statement, WAF’s Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg explained that the scheduled shutdown is necessary for work on the pipeline connecting the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which feeds into the Wainibuku Reservoir.

Soderberg noted that the pipelines will be shut down around midnight to allow for dewatering before work commences on Saturday. He mentioned that the work site presents challenging terrain which complicates the project.

Additionally, an ongoing assessment revealed extra risks that must be addressed prior to starting the work to ensure the safety of the workers. If these risks are not mitigated beforehand, they could cause delays to the project.

Residents are encouraged to prepare by storing sufficient water to last through the planned water shutdown.
