The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor will experience water disruptions starting at midnight tonight and lasting until Sunday.
According to Seru Soderberg, the Chief Operating Officer of WAF, the scheduled shutdown is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance on the pipeline that connects the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which feeds the Wainibuku Reservoir.
The shutdown will begin around midnight to allow WAF to dewater the pipelines before work commences the following day. Soderberg noted that the work site presents challenging terrain, and ongoing assessments have uncovered additional risks that must be managed to ensure worker safety.
Failure to address these risks in advance could potentially lead to delays in the project. Residents are advised to prepare by storing enough water to last through the planned disruptions.
