The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection work will lead to water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor, starting at midnight tonight and lasting until Sunday.
WAF’s Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg, explained that the planned shutdown is necessary for maintenance on the pipeline that runs from the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which feeds into the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Soderberg stated that the pipelines will be shut down at midnight to allow WAF to dewater them ahead of the work set to begin tomorrow. He noted that the worksite is located in a challenging terrain, and assessments have identified additional risks that must be addressed to ensure the safety of workers.
If these risks are not managed in advance, they could potentially lead to delays in the project’s timeline. Residents are advised to prepare by storing enough water to cover their needs during the planned water outage.
