The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has announced that essential connection works will lead to water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor, beginning at midnight tonight and lasting until Sunday.

WAF’s Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg stated that the planned shutdown is necessary for work on the pipeline connecting the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which feeds into the Wainibuku Reservoir. The shutdown will commence at midnight to allow WAF to dewater the pipelines before the work begins.

Soderberg noted that the specific area where the work will take place presents some challenges due to difficult terrain. An ongoing assessment of the worksite has identified additional risks that must be addressed to ensure the safety of the workers, and these risks could potentially delay the project if not managed beforehand.

Residents are being encouraged to prepare by storing enough water to last during the scheduled water shutdown.
