The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection works will result in water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor, starting at midnight tonight and continuing until Sunday.
According to WAF’s Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg, this planned shutdown is necessary for critical maintenance on the pipeline connecting the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which also supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Soderberg explained that the pipelines will be shut down at midnight to allow WAF to dewater them in preparation for the work scheduled to begin tomorrow. He noted that the worksite presents challenging terrain, necessitating careful assessment of potential risks to ensure the safety of workers.
These identified risks could cause delays if not proactively addressed. Residents are advised to prepare by storing sufficient water for the duration of the interruptions.
