The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection work will lead to water supply disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor, starting at midnight tonight and continuing until Sunday.
According to WAF’s Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg, the planned interruption will facilitate necessary maintenance on the pipeline that runs from the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which provides water to the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Soderberg indicated that the pipelines would be shut down at midnight to allow for dewatering before work begins. He noted that the area where the work is being conducted presents challenging conditions.
Additionally, an ongoing assessment of the worksite has identified further risks that must be addressed prior to commencing work to ensure the safety of the workers. Failure to mitigate these risks could lead to potential delays in the project.
Residents are advised to prepare for the shutdown by storing sufficient water to meet their needs during the interruption.
