The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection works will lead to water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor, starting at midnight tonight and continuing until Sunday.

In a statement, WAF’s Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg explained that the planned shutdown is necessary to facilitate crucial work on the pipeline linking the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which feeds into the Wainibuku Reservoir.

The pipelines will be dewatered starting at midnight in preparation for the work scheduled to begin tomorrow. Soderberg noted that the work site presents challenging terrain, and an ongoing assessment has identified additional risks that need to be addressed prior to commencing work to ensure the safety of workers.

He warned that these risks could potentially cause delays if not managed appropriately in advance. Residents are advised to prepare by storing sufficient water to last throughout the shutdown period.
