Wasasala’s Heroic Kick Secures Championship Glory for Labasa

Labasa midfielder Christopher Wasasala has been celebrated as a hero by fans after leading his team to victory in the inter-district championship last Saturday. His decisive kick secured a win for the Babasiga Lions, who triumphed over Navua 5-3 in a penalty shootout held at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

As the team paraded through town, fans enthusiastically chanted Wasasala’s name. He expressed his determination for the Babasiga Lions to clinch the championship during the penalty shootout, stating, “I told the boys that we will win the championship; I was 110 percent sure that I would deliver a win for Labasa.”

Wasasala credited the large turnout of supporters as a source of motivation, saying, “I would like to thank them for coming out in numbers to support the boys; they have given us a great celebration.” He emphasized that such events inspire the team to excel in larger tournaments.

Reflecting on the significance of the win, he declared, “The victory last Saturday was unforgettable, and we dedicate it to our supporters and families.”
