Wasasala: The Hero of Labasa’s Championship Triumph

Labasa’s midfielder Christopher Wasasala is being celebrated as a hero by fans after he led his team to victory in the inter-district championship last Saturday. His decisive kick ensured the Babasiga Lions triumphed over Navua in a penalty shootout, winning 5-3 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Fans passionately chanted Wasasala’s name as the team paraded through the town following their victory. He expressed his determination to secure the championship and felt confident heading into the penalty shootout, stating, “I told the boys that we will win the championship, I was 110 percent that I will go and give a win for Labasa.”

Wasasala acknowledged the support from fans, attributing their presence as a motivating factor. “I would like to thank them for coming out in numbers to support the boys; they have given us a good celebration,” he remarked.

He noted that successes like this one inspire the team to excel in larger tournaments. “The win last Saturday was a memorable victory; we dedicate it to our supporters and families.”
