Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, announced that the report regarding the investigation of Walesi PTE Limited by the Office of the Auditor-General is anticipated to be released this week. Kamikamica shared this information in an interview with FijiLive. Once the report is finalized, it will be presented to the Cabinet for review before being tabled in Parliament.
Kamikamica emphasized that the next steps will largely depend on the findings of the report, which could potentially lead to a submission to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. He also highlighted the significant investment of $125.6 million that has gone into the development and launch of the satellite digital television platform since 2015.
The upcoming release of this report represents an important step toward transparency and accountability in Fiji’s telecommunications sector, potentially paving the way for further improvements and oversight. As the nation moves towards greater governance and clarity in public spending, there remains hope for positive developments that will enhance service delivery for the Fijian people.
