Waisale Serevi’s Remarkable Recovery: A Journey of Gratitude and Hope

Rugby legend Waisale Serevi is on the mend following cardiac surgery in India. In a recent social media update, Serevi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, his family, and friends for their unwavering support and prayers during his recovery.

“I feel much better and stronger now and am looking forward to finishing the year strong,” he wrote. He also shared his thankfulness to God for guidance and protection for himself and his family.

Serevi recounted experiencing pain in his right back and front chest for two days last week, which prompted him to visit the hospital. He mentioned that the President of India Rugby suggested undergoing a full medical examination, to which he agreed.

After extensive tests—including assessments of his heart, kidneys, lungs, and blood—all results came back clear, and he did not require surgery, which he described as a blessing.

He reiterated his appreciation for the support he received from Prime Minister Rabuka, friends, and family. Earlier reports from Manipal Hospital indicated that Serevi’s coronary angiogram showed minor coronary artery disease, but he was stable and was expected to be moved from the ICU by Wednesday.
