Vodafone Fiji has been selected as the successful vendor for Fiji’s e-ticketing system after an extensive tender process. This was confirmed by Minister for External Trade and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica.
“Contract negotiations between the bus companies and Vodafone are underway,” Mr. Kamikamica stated. He added that these negotiations are expected to conclude within the next few weeks.
Earlier, Mr. Kamikamica affirmed that there were no plans to reintroduce cash payments for bus services.
A team from Mr. Kamikamica’s ministry has been in discussions with Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau, telecommunications providers, and bus companies to find the best way to improve Fiji’s e-ticketing system, which has faced numerous complaints.
The e-ticketing team is also working on addressing challenges faced by users of the system, including the need for better network connectivity.
