Vodafone Fiji has been selected as the new vendor for Fiji’s e-ticketing system after a comprehensive tender process. Minister for External Trade and Communications Manoa Kamikamica confirmed this announcement yesterday.
“Contract negotiations between the bus companies and Vodafone are currently underway,” said Mr. Kamikamica. “These are expected to conclude within the next few weeks.”
Earlier, Mr. Kamikamica had stated that there were no intentions to bring back cash payments for bus services.
A team from Mr. Kamikamica’s ministry has been in talks with Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau, telecommunications providers, and bus companies to find the best solutions to improve Fiji’s e-ticketing system, which has received numerous complaints.
The e-ticketing task force is also working to address challenges faced by users, including the need for better network connectivity.
