The Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North, held last month, successfully raised $327,000 during its week-long event.

Festival committee president Zaheen Ibrahim expressed her gratitude for the extensive preparations that were put into the festival, which lasted from August 31 to September 7 at Subrail Park in Labasa. During a thanksgiving program held on Saturday in Labasa, she announced the record amount raised, highlighting the efforts of the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors.

As the first female president of the festival committee, Ms. Ibrahim emphasized the important relationships formed with volunteers, contributing to the festival’s success. She remarked, “It is a time to appreciate the hard work, resilience, and dedication of our committee members.” She noted that the committee encountered and overcame several challenges while preparing for the event.

At the thanksgiving program, special plaques and certificates were awarded to committee members in recognition of their contributions. Ms. Ibrahim particularly thanked Vodafone Fiji and other corporate sponsors for their vital financial support, stating, “Without our sponsors, this festival would not have been successful.” She expressed hope for continued sponsorship in the future.
