Retired school principal Kuber Singh expressed his gratitude for receiving free cataract surgery last year, urging fellow Fijians to prioritize regular eye check-ups as vital for overall health. Accompanied by his wife, Kusum Lata Singh, who underwent cataract surgery provided by a medical team from Guangdong Bright Journey in China, Mr. Singh shared his positive experience.

Mr. Singh, who had his surgery in September of the previous year, highlighted the significant improvement in his vision, stating, “I no longer need glasses to read, and I can enjoy watching TV.” He feels fortunate to regain his sight and appreciates the support from the Chinese medical professionals in Fiji.

Kusum Singh, after struggling with vision problems for three years, shared her relief after receiving surgery. She recalled how her right eye had become blurry, leading her to seek help at the eye clinic where she was diagnosed with cataracts. Now, with the surgery complete, she looks forward to managing her household tasks more efficiently, particularly when caring for her grandchildren.

The Guangdong Bright Journey medical team is actively supporting Pacific Island nations by providing free eye clinics and surgeries to over 100 patients, facilitating improved vision and quality of life for many community members.

This heartwarming story emphasizes the importance of eye health and the value of accessible medical care for those in need. It serves as a reminder of the impact that health initiatives can have on individuals and families, fostering hope and improvement in the community’s overall well-being. Regular eye exams may greatly enhance the quality of life for many, encouraging those with vision issues to seek help and take action.
