Daniel Whippy, managing director of Carpenters Fiji Limited, is awaiting the approval of his visa application, a matter highlighted by his lawyer, Suruj Sharma, during a court hearing. Whippy is currently facing charges related to the abuse of office and has requested a variation to his bail conditions to seek urgent medical treatment in the United States.
In court, Sharma explained that Whippy requires a critical stem cell procedure for his knee, which is only available in the U.S. and India. He noted that delays at the embassy have slowed down the processing of their visa application, prompting the request for another mention date in court. Following the request, the magistrate has set a new hearing for November 29, after considering the upcoming embassy interview scheduled for November 26.
The court also extended Whippy’s bail during this period, allowing him the opportunity to pursue the necessary medical treatment while his legal matters are sorted out.
This situation highlights the challenges individuals can face when dealing with legal and medical issues simultaneously. However, there remains hope that with the upcoming visa interview and the court’s willingness to extend bail, Whippy will soon receive the treatment he requires, ultimately allowing for a better quality of life.
