Vinaya Habosi, a former player for the Flying Fijians and current winger for Racing 92, has been released from police custody after being arrested on allegations of domestic violence. Reports from France indicate that he may face suspension from his club.
It has been reported that Habosi was released after his partner chose not to file a complaint against him. Witnesses described an incident in which an argument escalated, resulting in Habosi allegedly pushing his partner, who was holding their baby at the time. Following this, it was claimed that he punched her in the back of the head as she fell to the ground.
Fortunately, it was confirmed that the baby was unharmed during the altercation. Habosi’s partner declined assistance from emergency services and showed no visible injuries. It is also believed that Habosi had been drinking and contested the accusations, claiming that he did not push or hit her.
In response to the situation, Racing 92 released a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi. The club indicated they would reserve further comments until they receive more information from the relevant authorities. Should he be found guilty, it is probable that his contract with the club, led by coach Stuart Lancaster, would be terminated. Habosi joined Racing 92 in the Top 14 league in 2023.
