Vinaya Habosi’s Troubling Arrest: What’s Next for the Rugby Star?

Vinaya Habosi, a former Flying Fijians player and current winger for Racing 92, has been released from police custody after being arrested on domestic violence allegations. Reports from France indicate that he may face suspension from his club.

Habosi was released after his partner chose not to file a complaint against him. Eyewitnesses reported that a dispute between the couple escalated, during which the 24-year-old allegedly pushed his partner while she was holding their baby. Accounts claim that after she fell to the ground, Habosi struck her in the back of the head.

It has been noted that the baby was unharmed during the incident, and his partner declined assistance from emergency responders, showing no visible injuries. Habosi, who was said to be intoxicated, asserted that he neither pushed nor hit his wife.

Racing 92 issued a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi, stating that they will await further details from the authorities before making any decisions. Should he be found guilty, it is likely that Habosi’s contract with the team, coached by Stuart Lancaster, will be terminated. He joined Racing 92 in the Top 14 league in 2023.
