Vinaya Habosi, a former player for the Flying Fijians and current winger for Racing 92, has been released from police custody following his arrest related to allegations of domestic violence. Reports indicate that he may face suspension from his club.
Habosi was released after his partner opted not to file a complaint against him. Witnesses reported an incident where an argument escalated, leading to Habosi pushing his wife while she was holding their baby. Following this, he allegedly punched her in the back of the head as she fell to the ground.
It has been confirmed that the baby was unharmed during the incident, and Habosi’s partner declined assistance from emergency services and displayed no visible injuries. According to accounts, Habosi was under the influence of alcohol at the time and denied physically assaulting his wife.
In response to the incident, Racing 92 issued a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi. The club has decided to withhold further comment until they receive more information from the appropriate authorities. If the allegations are substantiated, it is likely that Habosi’s contract with the Paris-based club will be terminated. He joined Racing 92 in 2023 as part of the Top 14 league.
