“Village Headman Clarifies Chinese Embassy Donation Controversy”

Tiliva Nakasaleka Village headman, Jale Duikoro, has dispelled rumors about funds or donations received from the Chinese embassy. Social media allegations have claimed that Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, received $172,000 from the Chinese ambassador for a village development project. Mr. Duikoro clarified last week that these funds are not connected to Ms. Tabuya.

“The $172,000 is intended for village development purposes, specifically for projects like path construction and restroom improvements,” said Mr. Duikoro.

“We are aware of speculations suggesting it was a private donation. These funds were managed directly between the Chinese government and the Tiliva Development Committee; they were not received privately by her.”

Ms. Tabuya stated yesterday, “The village development committee had liaised directly with them, and I was not involved in any way. The process was transparent and straightforward.

“I am not a member of nor involved with the development committee.”
