Village Chief Urges Kava Cutback for Family Bonding and Youth Guidance

The Tui Nadogo, Ratu Ilisaniti Malodali, has urged villages in Nadogo, Macuata, to limit kava consumption to ensure that parents, particularly fathers, can dedicate more quality time to their children. He emphasized the importance of a father’s presence in the home to provide supervision and discipline, stating that improper behavior must not be tolerated.

Ratu Ilisaniti expressed the belief that children should be taught appropriate behavior within the community, guided by religious values instilled by their parents. He pointed out that today’s youth are often distracted by technology and may engage in negative activities that could jeopardize the village’s legacy of unity and progress.

He noted that the upcoming decade is crucial for determining whether the youth will succeed in life and take on national responsibilities. Ratu Ilisaniti encouraged young people to pursue education and secure stable employment to protect themselves from influences that could lead them into drug trafficking.

In past discussions, he has warned local residents against growing marijuana, advocating for alternative farming methods to enhance their income. He also highlighted the need for increased family-level involvement in both religious and traditional activities, in line with ongoing efforts by the police to encourage stronger community-police partnerships.
