Village Celebrates Miss Hibiscus 2024 with Heartfelt Ceremony

Miss Hibiscus, Melania Tora, received a traditional welcoming ceremony in her village of Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The community, known as the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her achievement as she has showcased her village, Nadi, and Fiji on an international platform, according to clan leader Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.

The event was graced by the Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Tora’s accomplishments, stating, “Your success shines as a beacon of hope and inspiration to so many. Congratulations to our amazing vulau (daughter)!”

Ms. Tora, who was sponsored by Tents and Awnings, was crowned just two weeks earlier. During the ceremony, Ratu Viliame praised her representation of their roots and highlighted the honor she brought to her village.

He said, “Your name is not mentioned, but the name of your vanua, your chiefly house, Na Momo na Tui Sabeto, has been made known throughout Fiji and the world. Thank you for letting the people know where you come from.”

Ms. Tora expressed her gratitude towards her chief and the support from her community, acknowledging that it was their support, guidance, and prayers that enabled her to win the Miss Hibiscus title.
