Rod Dominish, a seasoned participant in hash running events and a frequent visitor to Fiji, has expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming inaugural Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital-sponsored Pan Asia-Pacific Hash, set to take place in September 2027. Dominish, who began his hash running journey with the Sydney Hash House Harriers in 1967 and founded the Wagga Wagga Hash House Harriers in 1974, has participated in numerous international hash events and looks forward to returning to Fiji for this special occasion.
At over 80 years old, Dominish is currently enjoying a holiday with his family at the Wyndham Resort on Denarau Island. He is excited about the event, thanking the organizers for their timely sponsorship. Scheduled for September 16-18, 2027, the event will be held in Nadi, Fiji.
Event director Dr. Ram Raju, an emeritus grand master of the Nadi Hash House Harriers, believes September will be an optimal time for the event, which coincides with other international hash gatherings leading up to it. He pointed out that the Australian Nashash will take place in March 2025 and that the 20th Pan Asia Hash will occur in Taiwan in November 2025, followed by the Interhash in Indonesia in May 2026. These events can generate enthusiasm and support for the Fiji gathering.
Dr. Raju emphasized that September is a favorable time for the PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash due to the off-peak season, which can lead to better hotel rates and pleasant weather. The event is collaboratively organized by the three Hash House Harrier chapters in Nadi—Nadi, Malolo, and Hospital Hash.
This upcoming event not only reflects the growing enthusiasm for hash running in Fiji but also has the potential to bring together diverse participants from all over the world, celebrating fitness, fun, and community spirit in a beautiful location.
Overall, the establishment of the Pan Asia-Pacific Hash in Nadi is a promising endeavor that highlights the global camaraderie fostered through hash running, ensuring a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for all involved.
