As Vanua Levu prepares to host the nation’s Fiji Day celebrations on October 10, 2024, Commissioner Northern, Uraia Rainima, has assured the public that all preparations are on schedule for a successful event.
Rainima, who is managing the logistics for the festivities, expressed confidence that everything is coming together smoothly.
With final arrangements being made for the national celebration, the people of Vanua Levu are eagerly anticipating an event that promises to showcase patriotism and unity.
Rainima emphasized that they are collaborating closely with local authorities and community organizations to ensure this year’s Fiji Day celebrations are memorable and inclusive.
“This Thursday, we expect attendees from the three provinces of Bua, Cakaudrove, and Macuata to join in the Fiji Day festivities in Labasa,” he stated.
He highlighted the extensive planning put into organizing the venue, managing transportation, and coordinating security to accommodate the expected crowds.
“Buses and minibuses have already been arranged to transport people from the provinces to the national celebration,” he explained.
Rainima also encouraged the public to get involved in the festivities and celebrate the nation’s unity.
“We invite and urge the people in the North to come and enjoy this special holiday and share moments with others visiting the Northern division during this time,” he added.
Vanua Levu last hosted the national Fiji Day celebrations in 2018, and the Commissioner hopes this year’s event will demonstrate the island’s ability to host significant national events, promoting regional development and pride.
